The First Month of 2024

Is it too late to say Happy New Year!?  It's been a while since I've posted something but work on the railroad hasn't stopped.  I've been doing a few small projects like painting and weathering this Walthers baggage cart and luggage.

The biggest project has been starting to remodel Oshawa's train station.  I have wanted to add a dedicated track for GO trains and I'm finally starting to make it happen.  I've had a sacrifice some nice scenery and make way for a lot more pavement.  The real Oshawa station is a major commuter station, and this project will begin to represent that.

Before Construction

After Construction

Before new track can be added, I've had to fill in some track right-of-way with Sculptamold.  Once it dried, it'll need some sanding and earth tone paint.

I have also many cars to my fleet.  Some of these were Christmas gifts, some were the result of sales, and others have just been new arrivals.

The list includes a Canadian Pacific Angus Van (caboose), one of Rapido's Procor plastics hoppers, a couple of Exact Rail boxcars in CN and weathered Railbox schemes, an Athearn 20,000-gallon tank car, and three new Rapido Centerbeam Flatcars (NOKL, CN, and BC Rail).  All great additions.   Each car got new Kadee couplers installed on them before the entered service on the layout.

I'm really liking the boxcars.  If you notice the CN boxcar has a Railbox door on it.  It's prototypical and that's why I bought it.  I really like the oddball cars and schemes.
