My father celebrated a major birthday this past week. He's been an important part of this layout's history. One of my favorite parts of the layout he built was a foldout staging yard in Brockville as the layout was just taking shape. It was based on a design I read about in an issue of Model Railroader as they were building the Rice Harbor project. The staging folded right under the layout when not in use. When I needed it, the set-up was a piece of cake (birthday pun intended). My father did a great job on its construction, and it served the layout well. Since building the Montreal section of the layout, the staging is no longer needed. It waits to be used again on this or a future layout. A very Happy Birthday to my father and a deep appreciation for all he has done to get this layout to what it has become.
